Top 10 Style Errors That Make Us More Round Than We Are
Around that assumes, it’s hot. A failed look that makes five pounds more, much less! Because it is often enough to sublimate or weigh down a silhouette, at DesiSoch, we decided to compile all the easily avoidable fashion loupes that make us lose in chic and gain weight. Not so dramatic style errors, all right, but that makes us look rounder than we are. And we do not know about you, but we prefer to avoid! 5 Cool Tips on How to wear boyfriend jeans
1. Too big clothes
Contrary to a very (too) widespread belief, drowning one’s forms in too big clothes does not thwart, quite the opposite. Beware of the boomerang effect, or rather the bag effect, the look 100% shapeless! The right mix? We always associate a large piece with a more fitted piece to compensate for the volume: wide pants + women’s top, loose tunic + slim trousers, etc. And in any case, we do not buy two sizes above his!
2. Clothes too tight
Have you already been told that excesses are not worth one way or the other? If too big clothes weigh down the silhouette, the effect is not really better for clothes that are too small. When we talk about a fitted top, we think of a few centimeters of ease, not a shirt whose buttons threaten to explode! No need to bend over in too tight clothes, you lose comfort and you win nothing in style, sworn. If you have to lie down to close pants or tummy to walk, it’s time to change your size.
3. Overdose of accessories
The accumulation of accessories is chic, provided you control it at the fingertips. Especially as covering a neckline only makes it bulkier, while wrists disappearing under the bracelets seem thicker. The secret? We sublimate, rather than hide! We avoid at all costs to superpose the imposing jewelry or very colorful, and we prefer a well-chosen accessory rather than all the panoply. A necklace in the hollow of the breasts, a beautiful pair of earrings, a ring or a single bracelet … Plan B, we put on accessories visually distant: earrings + belt, bracelet + necklace, or on an accumulation of very fine jewelry like rushes on the wrist.
4. 100% black outfit
Repeated a thousand times, black is thinning? Yes, but not in total look! Not only does it look bad and underline the dark circles, but it transforms, especially, the silhouette in monobloc not really gracious. For a total look really slimming, we cheat! In case of the marked face, we prefer a navy blue or a dark green. To avoid the mourning, we put on colorful accessories. And whatever happens, we mix the tones, the materials, and the textures, to create plays of light and to break the block effect: matt black trousers, black patent derbies, dark patterned shirt and shiny leather belt, for example.
5. The bad print
It is trendy and we love it, but the print does not want as well! Beware of style errors that make it more round with prints that are too big, too colorful, misdirected or misplaced. To avoid missteps, we reserve ultra-marked prints to accessories. Clothing side, we prefer small prints that do not weigh down the silhouette (tight polka dots, fine stripes, small flowers …) and/or soft colors, shades or tone on tone. In any case, one is wary like the plague of the printed trousers which too often enlarge the buttocks.
6. The clash of colors
You are told to be wary of black, the colors … but it’s all about balance! The danger of color is overdose and contrast: a total neon look, like black, offers a monobloc effect but without the slimming bonus of dark colors. As for the color contrasts too marked, they hug the silhouette rather than lengthen it: a pink fuchsia top on apple green pants breaks the verticality. In other words? Again, we reserve the fluorescent colors to accessories, we avoid too sharp contrasts between the top and bottom, and it is limited to two or three different colors at most in the same outfit.
7. Overdressing clothes
The turtleneck erases the neck, the long sleeves hide the fingers, the skirts too long make the feet disappear. Result? A packed figure that looks rounder! Complexes from around the world, we stop hiding, the result is never what we hope. The thing? Draw attention to a carefully chosen point (and without complexities), rather than conceal. A V neckline, cut-outs on the shoulders, knees unveiled or even a rolled pants to reveal the ankle: we choose what we show to distract!
8. Horizontal Lines
The horizontal lines cut the silhouette, the vertical lines lengthen it. Attention, therefore, belts, colors, horizontal stripes, and especially the lengths! Contrasting low shoes are avoided with pulled-up trousers, for example, which create three horizontal ones just at the bottom of the leg. Same topo with overlays, or simply with a mismatched top and bottom. The best solution? Opt for monochrome colors that avoid cuts, and limit the number of overlays.
9. Badly chosen shoes
They’re hip, okay, but platform shoes, wide heels, big shoes, work shoes or other thick soles have never thinned anyone. The only way? Wear them with a short skirt or well-fitting pants to draw the leg and, in contrast, refine it. We boycott wide pants and long skirts, and we avoid, in passing, low and dark shoes on a bare leg and pale … or clear on a dark bare leg! Again, contrasts create horizontals and cut the leg.
10. Glossy materials
Rhinestones, lamé, vinyl, silk, velvet, organza or satin, synthetic fabrics of poor quality … The last ones aside, it’s pretty, we want. The problem? All that glitters would have an unfortunate tendency to emphasize what we would like to hide, even to transform a simple fold of fabric into a bead. An optical illusion in the wrong sense that makes it more round, whether it is or not. To avoid the error of style, we do not tell you to boycott them, but simply to choose them: quality, flexible and fluid, not too tight, and rather in keys than in all-over!
